Job Description
Shopify is seeking a dedicated and proactive Cybersecurity Analyst to join our dynamic security team in Ottawa. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in protecting Shopify’s infrastructure, data, and users from evolving cyber threats. You will monitor security systems, respond to incidents, perform vulnerability assessments, and contribute to the development and implementation of security policies and procedures. This position is open to qualified international candidates, and we are pleased to offer visa sponsorship to support your relocation and employment in Canada. You will work in a hybrid model, balancing on-site collaboration with remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems and tools for suspicious activities and potential threats.
- Respond to security incidents, performing analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and remediate weaknesses.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
- Analyze security logs and alerts to detect and investigate potential security breaches.
- Contribute to security awareness training programs for employees.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security best practices into system design and deployment.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and security architectures.
- Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and vulnerability scanners.
- Experience with operating systems (Linux, Windows) and cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with incident response methodologies and forensic analysis.
- Knowledge of common attack vectors and mitigation strategies.
- Ability to analyze complex technical information and communicate findings effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, or equivalent.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Experience in a large-scale, enterprise environment.
- Prior experience working with a global team.
