Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Diamond Driller to join our exploration team based out of Bunbury, Western Australia. This is a crucial role responsible for operating advanced diamond drilling rigs to collect core samples for geological analysis. You will be instrumental in supporting our clients’ resource exploration programs, working in diverse and challenging environments across regional WA. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of drilling techniques, safety protocols, and a commitment to high-quality core recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain diamond drilling rigs and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
- Execute drilling programs according to geological specifications and project plans.
- Ensure accurate core recovery, handling, and preservation.
- Conduct pre-start checks, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on drilling machinery.
- Monitor drilling parameters and make adjustments as required to optimize performance.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures, environmental regulations, and site-specific rules.
- Complete daily drill reports, logbooks, and other required documentation accurately.
- Work collaboratively with geologists, offsiders, and other team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Diamond Driller.
- Proven ability to operate various diamond drilling rigs (e.g., UDR, Boart Longyear).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Australian Driver's License (Manual).
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
- White Card (Construction Induction).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- HR (Heavy Rigid) or HC (Heavy Combination) Driver's License.
- Cert III or IV in Drilling Operations.
- Experience with remote field operations and associated logistics.
- Vocational training or certifications related to drilling or heavy machinery operation.
- Experience in Western Australian geological settings.
