Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer with a specialization in High Voltage (HV) systems to join our dynamic team in East Kilbride. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high voltage electrical systems and components, including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and protection schemes.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses for HV network performance, insulation coordination, and electromagnetic compatibility.
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering drawings, and documentation in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality regulations for HV installations.
- Support the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HV equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept to final handover.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, standards, and best practices in high voltage engineering.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in high voltage system design and analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, EMTP-RV)
- Strong understanding of HV equipment principles, operation, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with national and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, BS EN, IEEE).
- Experience with CAD software for electrical schematics and layouts.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems or High Voltage Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards professional registration.
- Experience in substation design or power transmission projects.
- Knowledge of renewable energy grid integration challenges.
- Project management experience within an engineering context.
