Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electronics Technician with expertise in component-level repair to join our growing team in Campbelltown. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of electronic circuits, be proficient in using diagnostic tools, and have a proven track record of troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic failures down to the individual component level. This role involves working on a variety of electronic devices, from consumer electronics to specialized industrial control boards, requiring precision, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset. You will be instrumental in diagnosing faults, performing intricate repairs, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in electronic circuits and components using schematics, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other specialized test equipment.
- Perform intricate component-level repairs, including soldering and desoldering surface-mount devices (SMD) and through-hole components.
- Conduct functional testing and quality checks on repaired units to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Identify and source appropriate replacement components.
- Document repair processes, findings, and part replacements accurately.
- Collaborate with engineering and other technical teams to understand new products or complex issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Provide technical insights and support for continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in electronics troubleshooting and component-level repair.
- Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics theory, circuit diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficiency in soldering and desoldering techniques for both SMD and through-hole components.
- Competence in using electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, logic analyzers).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and datasheets.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-7711/7721 certification.
- Experience with various microcontrollers and programming interfaces.
- Familiarity with various types of electronic components and their common failure modes.
- Experience in a service or repair center environment.
