Job Description
Join the dynamic team at Harry The Hirer as an Event Bumping Assistant! We are looking for energetic and reliable individuals to assist with the setup and teardown of theatre and event equipment, primarily during night shifts. This role is crucial for ensuring our productions and events run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for carefully moving, positioning, and dismantling a variety of stage equipment, props, lighting, and sound systems. This physically demanding role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a crew in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload event and theatre equipment from trucks.
- Move and position stage sets, props, lighting, and sound equipment according to layout plans.
- Assist in the assembly and dismantling of temporary structures, staging, and rigging.
- Ensure all equipment is handled with care to prevent damage.
- Work collaboratively with the event production team and other crew members.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during setup and teardown.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform tasks efficiently to meet strict event timelines, primarily during night hours.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (e.g., up to 25kg)
- Strong physical stamina and endurance
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for night shifts
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Team player with good communication skills
- Commitment to safety procedures
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar event production, warehouse, or manual labour role
- Basic understanding of stage equipment and event logistics
- Forklift license or EWP experience (advantageous but not required)
- First Aid certification
- White Card (Construction Induction Card)
