Job Description
We are looking for enthusiastic and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as a Part-time Excavator Spotter in Sale, Greater Manchester. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to start a career in construction, as full training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our site operations by acting as the eyes and ears for our excavator operators, guiding them safely through daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a dedicated spotter for excavator operators, ensuring safe machine movement and operation.
- Maintain a safe working distance between machinery, personnel, and site hazards.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with excavator operators using agreed hand signals and radio communication.
- Monitor the immediate working area for unexpected obstacles, buried services, or changes in ground conditions.
- Assist with general site duties as required, contributing to the overall smooth running of operations.
- Strictly adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to site management.
Required Skills
- No prior experience in construction or spotting is required – full training will be provided.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Strong commitment to health and safety on site.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to part-time day work schedules.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
- Good observational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to perform duties in an outdoor construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A basic understanding of construction site environments and safety procedures is a plus, but not essential.
- Willingness to obtain a CSCS card (training and support for this will be provided if needed).
