Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Federal Emergency Supply Coordinator to join our Disaster Logistics team in Leeds. This critical role involves orchestrating the timely and efficient movement of essential supplies during national emergencies and disaster relief operations. You will be instrumental in managing supply chains, coordinating with government agencies, and ensuring that vital resources reach affected areas quickly and effectively. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, a cool head under pressure, and a strong commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust supply chain strategies for emergency preparedness and disaster response.
  • Liaise directly with government bodies, NGOs, and partner organizations to understand supply needs and logistical challenges.
  • Manage the end-to-end supply chain for emergency provisions, including procurement, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
  • Monitor inventory levels of critical supplies and trigger replenishment as required.
  • Coordinate transport logistics, including vehicle allocation, route planning, and delivery scheduling, often under urgent conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all emergency supply movements and related documentation.
  • Prepare detailed reports on operational performance, challenges, and outcomes post-disaster events.
  • Train and supervise junior logistics personnel during emergency deployments.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in emergency drills and simulation exercises to refine response protocols.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in logistics, supply chain management, or emergency response operations.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and warehousing principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Commitment to working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays during emergency activations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working with government contracts or public sector emergency services.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Knowledge of national emergency response frameworks and protocols.
  • Experience with cold chain logistics or handling hazardous materials.
