Job Description
Are you a meticulous and dedicated individual looking to start a rewarding career in property restoration? SERVPRO of Rochester is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Fire Damage Soot Wipers. In this critical role, you will be on the front lines of fire damage recovery, responsible for the thorough cleaning and removal of soot and other residues from affected surfaces. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work safely in challenging environments. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for those new to the industry. You must be comfortable wearing personal protective equipment, including a respirator, as part of our commitment to safety and health.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed cleaning and removal of soot, smoke residues, and other contaminants from walls, ceilings, floors, and contents after fire incidents.
- Utilize specialized cleaning products and equipment effectively and safely.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including consistent use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, gloves, and protective suits.
- Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Carefully handle and transport damaged items, ensuring proper documentation and chain of custody.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to complete projects efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and any observed issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment both on-site and at the warehouse.
- Assist with other general labor tasks as needed during restoration projects.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working in various environments that may include debris, strong odors, and varying temperatures.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Reliable transportation to and from our facility or job sites.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and equipment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment for extended periods.
- Possess a strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in cleaning, general labor, or construction is a plus, but not required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures in a work environment.
