Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Gallery Host to join our team in a professional government environment located in Gungahlin. As a Gallery Host, you will be the frontline representative for our esteemed cultural venue, responsible for ensuring an exceptional and informative visitor experience. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions. You will be integral to the smooth operation of our gallery, assisting visitors, providing information, and contributing to a positive and secure atmosphere. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and capable in all aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome and assist all visitors upon arrival, providing information about current exhibitions, facilities, and programs.
- Act as a primary point of contact for visitor inquiries, offering accurate and helpful information in a clear and engaging manner.
- Monitor gallery spaces to ensure the safety and security of artworks and visitors, reporting any issues promptly.
- Provide directional assistance and guidance to visitors throughout the venue.
- Assist with the setup and pack-down of events, workshops, and educational programs as required.
- Manage visitor flow and queue management during peak periods or special events.
- Operate point-of-sale systems for ticket sales, merchandise, or membership processing (if applicable).
- Handle visitor feedback and complaints professionally and efficiently, escalating to management when necessary.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, tidy, and professional appearance of gallery spaces.
- Adhere to all WHS policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for colleagues and visitors.

Preferred Qualifications

- An interest in arts, culture, history, or public engagement.
- Ability to speak a language other than English (desirable but not essential).
- Current First Aid and/or CPR certification.
