Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Surgeon to join our esteemed medical team in St Albans, Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive surgical care to our patients, performing a wide range of general surgical procedures, and contributing to our commitment to clinical excellence. This position requires a surgeon with a strong background in general surgery, exceptional diagnostic skills, and a patient-centered approach. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, utilising advanced medical technology and adhering to the highest standards of patient safety and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a diverse range of general surgical procedures with proficiency and precision.
- Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and post-operative care.
- Diagnose and treat surgical conditions, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with anaesthetists, nurses, and other medical professionals.
- Participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Adhere to all clinical governance and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the surgical department.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training.
Required Skills
- Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practise.
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Surgery (CCT or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience of at least 5 years in a broad range of general surgical procedures post-CCT/equivalent.
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sub-specialty interest or fellowship in a related surgical field.
- Experience in a private healthcare setting.
- Participation in clinical audits or research.
- Leadership or mentoring experience.
