Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our thriving team in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including transportation, water resources, industrial, and urban development. You will be responsible for conducting geotechnical investigations, analyses, and developing practical engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct geotechnical investigations, including subsurface explorations, laboratory testing programs, and in-situ testing.
- Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, excavations, and other earth structures.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports, including design recommendations, specifications, and construction observations.
- Develop and review geotechnical design drawings and specifications.
- Provide technical support during construction, including field inspections and construction monitoring.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the professional development of the team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Proven experience in geotechnical site investigation, analysis, and design.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, gINT, LPILE).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geological principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with design-build projects.
- Familiarity with local geology and geotechnical practices in the Midwest region.
- Experience working on federally funded projects or with DOT standards.
