Job Description
Royal Oaks Golf Club is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to lead our course maintenance operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to oversee all aspects of our championship golf course, ensuring it remains in pristine condition year-round. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team, implementing best practices in turf management, and collaborating with club management to uphold our high standards of quality and playability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive turf management programs for greens, fairways, tees, and roughs.
- Oversee and manage the golf course maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget, including capital expenditures.
- Operate and maintain a sophisticated irrigation system, ensuring optimal water usage and turf health.
- Implement and monitor integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to ensure sustainable course conditions.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment repairs.
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Pro Shop team to ensure excellent course conditions for all events and daily play.
- Manage and maintain all golf course equipment, implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
- Oversee landscaping and aesthetic upkeep of the clubhouse grounds and surrounding areas.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated expertise in turfgrass science, agronomy, and soil management.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining golf course equipment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and water management techniques.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Pesticide applicator's license (or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe).
- Experience with environmental management systems and sustainable golf course practices.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
- Experience managing golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.
