Job Description
ABM Industries is seeking a reliable and diligent Government Building Janitor to join our team in Lower Manhattan, NY. This is a full-time position offering secure employment within a critical government facility. As a Janitor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for government employees and visitors. We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. While prior experience is a plus, we are willing to train motivated individuals who demonstrate reliability and a positive attitude. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols and security procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in offices, hallways, and public spaces.
- Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, windowsills, and fixtures.
- Clean and maintain entryways and public access points.
- Restock supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuums and floor buffers.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and security protocols for a government facility.
- Perform other cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong attendance record.
- Attention to detail and a thorough approach to cleaning tasks.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening for government facility access.
Preferred Qualifications
