Job Description

We are seeking a highly organised and accurate Data Entry Operator for a high-volume, 6-month contract position within our Palmerston office. This role is essential for ensuring the timely and precise input of critical government data, supporting various departmental functions and maintaining the integrity of our information systems. You will be responsible for processing a significant amount of information daily, requiring meticulous attention to detail and efficiency. While prior government experience is not mandatory, a strong aptitude for data management and a commitment to accuracy are key. This is an on-site role, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to vital public services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately input a high volume of alphanumeric data into various government databases and systems.
  • Verify data for errors and discrepancies, correcting as necessary to maintain data integrity.
  • Organise and maintain electronic and physical files, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
  • Generate basic reports and summaries from compiled data as required.
  • Adhere strictly to data security and confidentiality protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as directed.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to type quickly and accurately (minimum 50 WPM).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a data entry or administrative role, preferably within a government or large corporate setting.
  • Familiarity with various database systems.
