Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Hardware Verification Intern to join our ASIC/FPGA design team in Swindon. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the challenging and rewarding field of hardware verification. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to the verification of complex digital designs for cutting-edge semiconductor products. This role is ideal for students eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical industry setting and learn advanced verification methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of verification plans and test strategies for ASIC/FPGA designs.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of test benches and verification environments.
  • Execute simulation tests using industry-standard tools and analyze the resulting waveforms and logs.
  • Identify, document, and debug functional discrepancies in hardware designs.
  • Collaborate with design and verification engineers to ensure design correctness and quality.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Document verification results, progress, and methodologies in a clear and concise manner.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of digital logic design, computer architecture, and microprocessors.
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages (HDL) such as Verilog or VHDL.
  • Proficiency in basic scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Tcl) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and verification methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous coursework or academic projects related to ASIC/FPGA design and verification.
  • Exposure to hardware verification methodologies like UVM, OVM, or VMM.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard simulation and synthesis tools (e.g., Questa, VCS, Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
  • Understanding of embedded systems and processor architectures.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
