Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Heavy Haulage Driver to join our dedicated team in Orange, NSW. This is a critical role responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of oversize and overweight loads across various routes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and a proven track record in heavy haulage.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy haulage vehicles, including prime movers and specialized trailers for oversize loads.
- Plan and execute routes, considering road conditions, permits, and escort requirements.
- Secure and stabilize loads according to industry best practices and regulatory standards.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any issues.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery records, and all necessary documentation.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including fatigue management.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and escort vehicles.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods while maintaining the highest safety standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and safety programs.
- Represent Toll Group professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Current and valid MC (Multi-Combination) class driver's license with clean driving record.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in heavy haulage and oversize load transportation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of load restraint guidelines and safe operating procedures for heavy vehicles.
- Ability to interpret and comply with state-specific permit conditions for oversize loads.
- Strong understanding of fatigue management regulations.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modular and steerable trailers.
- Relevant industry safety certifications.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor roadside adjustments.
- Experience with specialized equipment or diverse heavy haulage projects.
