Job Description
Wollongong Hospital is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our essential team as Hospital Orderlies. This is an entry-level opportunity specifically designed for those eager to begin a rewarding career in public health, with no prior experience required. As a Hospital Orderly, you will play a vital role in the efficient operation of our hospital, ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will receive comprehensive, hands-on training to develop all the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this crucial support role. We offer weekly pay for this full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, trolleys, or beds to various departments (e.g., wards, operating theatres, diagnostic imaging).
- Assist with patient mobility and transfers, including lifting and positioning, under the direction of nursing staff.
- Deliver and collect specimens, patient records, medication, and equipment throughout the hospital.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of patient areas, communal spaces, and equipment.
- Replenish supplies in wards and treatment areas as required.
- Assist with setting up and packing down equipment for procedures or patient care.
- Respond promptly to requests from nursing and medical staff.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control guidelines.
- Provide compassionate and respectful support to patients and their families.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, hazards, or concerns to appropriate staff.
