Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Part-time Hospital Ward Clerk for night shifts and weekend work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to contribute to a vital healthcare environment in a flexible capacity. As a Ward Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, playing a crucial role in the smooth administrative operation of the ward. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate, making this an ideal role for individuals seeking to enter the healthcare administration field.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming and outgoing calls, directing enquiries appropriately
- Admit and discharge patients efficiently and accurately using hospital systems
- Maintain patient records, ensuring all documentation is current and complete
- Assist nursing and medical staff with administrative tasks as required
- Order and manage ward supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels
- Liaise with various hospital departments to coordinate patient services
- Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families
- Process patient data entries and updates in a timely manner
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new software quickly
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A compassionate and professional demeanour
- Reliability and punctuality, particularly for night and weekend shifts
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to undertake full training provided
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous administrative experience, particularly in a healthcare setting (though not essential)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- First Aid certification
