Job Description

Join Human Rights Watch as a Human Rights Advocacy Intern in Provo, UT. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for passionate individuals eager to contribute to global human rights advocacy. You will gain hands-on experience supporting our crucial work, learning about international human rights law, and assisting with research and campaign initiatives. This internship is designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship, equipping you with valuable skills in the non-profit sector and human rights field. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on various human rights issues, drafting summaries and reports.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns.
  • Support outreach efforts through social media management and content creation.
  • Help organize virtual and local events, workshops, and educational initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support to advocacy teams, including data entry and correspondence.
  • Monitor news and policy developments related to human rights.
  • Collaborate with team members on ongoing projects and initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated passion for human rights and social justice.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic background in human rights, political science, international relations, law, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with international human rights instruments and mechanisms.
  • Experience with digital advocacy tools or social media management.
  • Multilingual abilities (especially in a UN official language).
