Job Description
Are you passionate about animals and looking for an opportunity to work in a dynamic veterinary environment? Greencross Vets is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our Gold Coast team. This role is perfect for individuals who love working with dogs and other animals, ensuring their comfort, cleanliness, and overall well-being during their stay at our clinic. You will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary team, contributing to a clean and safe environment, and providing essential care to our furry patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising dogs.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and common areas.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal handling and restraint.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff.
- Launder animal bedding and towels.
- Ensure all animals have fresh water and appropriate food.
- Assist with admitting and discharging animals.
Required Skills
- Strong love and compassion for animals.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
- Excellent attention to detail and observation skills.
- Capable of physical tasks, including lifting up to 20kg, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting (e.g., kennel, shelter, vet clinic).
- Knowledge of basic animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Current driver's license.
