Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lighting Designer with a strong architectural focus to join our dynamic team in Albury. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design and delivery of lighting solutions for a diverse range of architectural projects, including commercial, public, and mixed-use developments. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, creative flair, and a deep understanding of how lighting enhances architectural form and function. You will collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, engineers, and clients, transforming concepts into practical, aesthetically pleasing, and energy-efficient lighting designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative and cost-effective lighting designs for architectural projects from concept through to completion.
- Produce detailed lighting calculations, specifications, and documentation using industry-standard software.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including architects, interior designers, electrical engineers, and project managers.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and photometric measurements to inform design decisions.
- Prepare presentations and communicate design concepts effectively to clients and stakeholders.
- Select appropriate luminaires, control systems, and associated equipment, considering performance, aesthetics, and budget.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian lighting standards, building codes, and sustainability targets.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality outputs.
- Stay abreast of new lighting technologies, products, and design trends.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g., AGI32, Dialux Evo)
- Strong understanding of architectural design principles and integration of lighting.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of Australian lighting standards and energy efficiency regulations (e.g., AS/NZS 1680, NCC).
- Creative problem-solving and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on lighting.
- Professional certification in lighting design (e.g., LC, IALD Associate).
- Experience with sustainable and smart lighting solutions.
- Portfolio demonstrating a range of architectural lighting projects.
- Knowledge of BIM workflows.
