Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Local Authority Billing Clerk to join our finance department. This full-time position offers the stability of a municipal role with the added benefit of no weekend work, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. Key Responsibilities
- Process and generate accurate invoices for municipal services including utilities, property taxes, and permits.
- Maintain and update billing records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding billing statements, payments, and service charges via phone, email, and in-person.
- Reconcile billing discrepancies and issue adjustments or credits as necessary.
- Prepare and distribute billing reports to relevant departments.
- Assist with collection efforts for overdue accounts, following established procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless billing operations.
- Adhere to all municipal financial policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clerical, administrative, or billing role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
