Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Minibus Driver to join our Community Transport team. This vital role involves providing safe and friendly transportation services to eligible residents within the City of Greater Geelong, enabling them to access essential appointments, social activities, and community programs. You will be an integral part of supporting our community’s independence and wellbeing. This position requires excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse individuals, including the elderly and those with mobility challenges. Full training on specific routes, vehicle operation, and passenger assistance will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Council minibus to transport passengers on designated routes and schedules.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including those using mobility aids, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain accurate passenger logs and trip records.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, Council policies, and safety procedures.
  • Provide a friendly, respectful, and helpful service to all passengers.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the minibus.
  • Handle minor incidents or emergencies effectively and report as per protocol.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and team meetings.

Required Skills

  • Valid Australian driver's licence (Class C or higher, with F endorsement or ability to obtain).
  • Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience (e.g., taxi, delivery, bus, or similar).
  • Demonstrated commitment to passenger safety and comfort.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the Geelong region.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with elderly or vulnerable community members.
  • Manual handling training.
  • Certificate II or III in Driving Operations or a related field.
