Job Description
We are seeking a vigilant and proactive Loss Prevention Officer to join our team in Salford. This role is crucial in minimizing shrinkage and maintaining a safe and secure environment within our retail store. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing theft, fraud, and other loss-related incidents, while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess excellent observation skills, a strong sense of integrity, and the ability to act calmly and effectively in challenging situations. You will play a vital part in protecting company assets and ensuring a positive experience for our customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct overt and covert surveillance to detect and deter theft.
- Respond to and investigate reported incidents of loss, including theft, fraud, and internal dishonesty.
- Apprehend and detain individuals suspected of shoplifting, following company guidelines and legal procedures.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports on all incidents, investigations, and loss prevention activities.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarms to identify suspicious activities.
- Collaborate with store management and law enforcement agencies when necessary.
- Educate store colleagues on loss prevention best practices and security awareness.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and secure store environment for customers and staff.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a security or loss prevention role, preferably within a retail environment.
- Strong observational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to write clear and concise incident reports.
- Proficiency in using CCTV and other security monitoring equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant UK laws pertaining to theft and apprehension.
- Ability to handle confrontational situations calmly and professionally.
- A keen eye for detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license (non-SIA will be considered with relevant experience).
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience with interviewing techniques for suspected individuals.
- Previous experience working for a large retail chain.
