Job Description
Are you passionate about healthcare and looking for an exciting entry point into the medical field? UCHealth Memorial Hospital is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals for an Entry Level Medical Scribe position. This is a unique opportunity to work directly alongside physicians, gaining invaluable experience and insight into clinical practice. As a Medical Scribe, you will be an essential part of the care team, responsible for documenting patient encounters in real-time. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for aspiring healthcare professionals with no prior experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Accompany physicians during patient examinations to accurately document the patient's medical history, physical exam, and other findings.
- Transcribe physician dictations and orders, including prescriptions, labs, and imaging studies.
- Assist in navigating the electronic health record (EHR) system to retrieve and input patient information.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare charts for upcoming patient visits, ensuring all necessary information is available.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Anticipate physician needs to improve workflow efficiency.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interest in the medical field or healthcare administration.
- Excellent active listening and communication skills.
- Proficiency in typing and basic computer skills (data entry, word processing).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment or completion of pre-med, pre-PA, or other healthcare-related college programs.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and human anatomy.
- Previous experience (paid or volunteer) in a customer service or patient-facing role.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
