Petco is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our mobile grooming team as a Mobile Dog Groomer’s Bather / Assistant in Aurora, CO. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to learn the ropes of professional dog grooming from experienced professionals while traveling to various client locations. You’ll play a crucial role in preparing dogs for grooming, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and providing exceptional customer service. We provide comprehensive training and support, making this the perfect stepping stone for a rewarding career in pet care. No prior grooming experience is required; we’re looking for individuals eager to learn and grow with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and humanely bathe and dry dogs of all breeds and sizes, following established procedures.
- Assist the lead groomer with various tasks including nail trims, ear cleaning, brushing, and preparing pets for styling.
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of grooming equipment, tools, and the mobile grooming unit before, during, and after appointments.
- Prepare the grooming station before each appointment, ensuring all necessary supplies are ready.
- Load and unload supplies, ensuring the mobile unit is fully stocked and organized.
- Assist with customer check-in and check-out processes, including scheduling future appointments and processing payments.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering client questions and ensuring a positive experience for both pets and their owners.
- Drive the mobile grooming unit safely to scheduled appointments within the Aurora service area (training provided, valid license required).
- Monitor pet behavior and health during grooming processes, reporting any concerns immediately to the lead groomer.

- Ability to handle dogs of various temperaments and sizes with patience, care, and confidence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a desire to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required for driving the mobile unit).
- Physical stamina to lift heavy dogs (up to 50 lbs unassisted), stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional or volunteer capacity (e.g., vet clinic, shelter, pet sitting).
- Prior customer service experience.
- Familiarity with basic pet grooming tools and techniques.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
