Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Morning Kitchen Hand to join our dedicated culinary team on a part-time roster. This entry-level role is perfect for someone who is keen to learn the ropes in a busy kitchen environment and contribute to the smooth operation of our food service. You will primarily assist with food preparation, dishwashing, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting our chefs and cooks during morning shifts. Full training will be provided to ensure you are comfortable and confident in your tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks (e.g., washing, peeling, chopping vegetables).
  • Operate and maintain dishwashing machinery, ensuring all dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils are clean and sanitised.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen area, including floors, benchtops, and equipment, in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Support inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and organisation of supplies.
  • Empty bins and manage waste disposal appropriately.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as required by the kitchen management.

Required Skills

  • Reliability and punctuality for morning shifts.
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of hygiene principles (training will be provided for specific food safety protocols).
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment is a plus but not essential.
  • Current Food Safety Certificate (e.g., Food Handler certificate) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Availability to work various morning shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
