Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mould Maker to join our manufacturing team in Port Adelaide. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the precise creation, modification, and repair of moulds used in various advanced manufacturing processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and dimensional accuracy. You will work with a range of materials and techniques, contributing directly to the production of high-integrity components essential for our operations within the defence sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and finish complex moulds and patterns from various materials including wood, metal, plastic, and composites.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD models to produce moulds to exact specifications.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, as well as precision machinery such as CNC routers, lathes, and milling machines.
  • Perform precise measurements and quality checks on completed moulds using calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and production teams to optimize mould designs for manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Maintain and repair existing moulds, ensuring their longevity and optimal performance.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company manufacturing standards, including those specific to the defence industry.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Mould Maker or similar precision manufacturing role (minimum 3 years).
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of various moulding techniques, processes, and materials.
  • Skilled in operating conventional and CNC machine tools relevant to mould making.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, precision, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform accurate measurements and quality control checks using a range of instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
  • Commitment to strict safety regulations and quality assurance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Mould Making, Pattern Making, Toolmaking, or a closely related mechanical/manufacturing field.
  • Experience with 3D CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia, Mastercam) for mould design and programming.
  • Previous experience in the defence, aerospace, or advanced automotive manufacturing sectors.
  • Knowledge of composite material fabrication processes and related mould requirements.
  • Forklift licence or similar heavy machinery operation certification.
