Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Music Tutor to join our vibrant team in Gateshead. This role involves delivering engaging and effective music lessons to individuals and small groups, helping students to develop their musical skills, understanding, and appreciation. You will be responsible for tailoring lessons to meet diverse learning needs, tracking student progress, and contributing to a positive and inspiring learning environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging music lessons (both practical and theoretical) to students of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Assess student capabilities and tailor teaching methods to individual learning styles and goals.
  • Track and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Prepare students for examinations (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity) or performances, where appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and inspiring learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other tutors and staff to enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Stay updated with current music education trends and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least two musical instruments (e.g., Piano, Guitar, Voice, Violin, Drums, Brass).
  • Strong understanding of music theory and practical application.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (2+ years) as a music tutor or teacher.
  • Experience preparing students for graded music examinations.
  • Knowledge of various teaching methodologies and curriculum development.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
