Job Description
We are seeking a warm, responsible, and proactive Nanny / Mother’s Helper to provide part-time, flexible support to a family in Portland, Oregon. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children and is eager to assist with various daily tasks, offering an extra pair of hands to a busy household. The ideal candidate will be a positive presence, capable of engaging children in enriching activities, and willing to contribute to a tidy and organized home environment. Flexibility in scheduling is key, as hours may vary based on the family’s needs, often including afternoons, occasional evenings, or weekend support. This is an on-site position focused on providing direct care and assistance within the family’s home.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and engaging care for children, including supervising playtime, assisting with homework, and organizing age-appropriate activities.
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks for children.
- Assist with light household tasks related to childcare, such as tidying play areas, children's rooms, and common spaces.
- Support the parent with various daily tasks, which may include errands, organizing children's belongings, or preparing for meals.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
- Maintain open and clear communication with parents regarding children's activities and any pertinent observations.
- Adhere to the family's routines and preferences.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in childcare (babysitting, nannying, or similar roles).
- Genuine love for children and a patient, nurturing demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to plan and engage children in creative and educational activities.
- Basic first aid knowledge or willingness to complete a certification.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR certification for infants and children.
- Experience with multiple children or specific age groups (toddlers, school-aged).
- References from previous childcare positions.
- Background in early childhood education or related field.
- Ability to swim (if working with families with pools).
