Job Description

Telus is offering an exciting Penetration Testing (Ethical Hacking) Intern position, designed for individuals with little to no prior professional experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior penetration testers in conducting security assessments and ethical hacking exercises.
  • Learn to identify, analyze, and document security vulnerabilities in applications, networks, and systems.
  • Support the development and improvement of penetration testing methodologies and tools.
  • Participate in research on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.
  • Contribute to internal training sessions and knowledge sharing within the security team.
  • Document findings clearly and concisely, including steps for reproduction and potential remediation.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for cybersecurity and ethical hacking.
  • Basic understanding of computer networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, routers).
  • Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and security challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Personal projects or self-study in areas like ethical hacking, scripting (Python, Bash), or web application security.
  • Understanding of common web vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) or network attack vectors.
  • Relevant certifications or participation in CTF (Capture The Flag) events are a plus.
