Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Public Lands Groundskeeper and play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and functionality of Tulsa’s cherished public parks and recreational areas. This full-time position offers excellent public sector benefits and a chance to work outdoors, contributing directly to the community’s well-being. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about outdoor work, committed to maintaining high standards, and eager to learn. Full training will be provided for those new to the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, and weeding.
- Maintain athletic fields, playgrounds, and park facilities to ensure safety and usability.
- Plant, cultivate, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf.
- Operate and maintain a variety of groundskeeping equipment suchately and safely, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Assist with irrigation system maintenance and repairs.
- Remove litter and debris from park grounds and facilities.
- Perform minor repairs on park benches, picnic tables, and other park amenities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and departmental guidelines.
- Report any hazards, damage, or maintenance needs to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining high-quality public spaces.
- Basic understanding of groundskeeping principles or a willingness to learn.
- Ability to operate hand tools and learn to operate power equipment safely.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment (e.g., commercial mowers, string trimmers).
- Knowledge of basic horticulture or landscaping techniques.
- Experience working in a public park or similar outdoor setting.
