Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Public Sector Events Logistics Assistant to join our dedicated team at Sheffield City Council. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for an individual eager to gain hands-on experience in public sector event management and logistics. You will play a vital supporting role in the planning, coordination, and execution of a wide array of civic and community events across the city, contributing to memorable experiences for residents and visitors. Full training will be provided to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to excel in this dynamic role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the logistical planning and coordination of council-led events, including scheduling, venue booking, and equipment hire.
  • Support the procurement and management of event supplies, materials, and services.
  • Help to maintain accurate records of event budgets, expenditures, and supplier contracts.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders (e.g., emergency services, contractors) to ensure smooth event operations.
  • Assist with on-site event setup, teardown, and general event day support.
  • Prepare event documentation, including risk assessments, health and safety plans, and attendee lists.
  • Manage communication with event participants and attendees as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the events team, including data entry, filing, and responding to enquiries.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in public sector work and community engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative support role, even if voluntary.
  • Familiarity with local Sheffield geography and venues.
  • A valid UK driving license.
