Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our project teams in Mississauga, Ontario. This is an exceptional opportunity for an international professional looking to establish their career in Canada, as comprehensive visa sponsorship will be provided. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing all commercial and contractual aspects of our construction projects, from initial feasibility studies through to final accounts. You will be responsible for cost control, procurement, risk management, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably, contributing to the financial health and success of Aecon’s diverse portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates, and budgets for various construction projects.
- Manage all aspects of the tender process, including preparation of tender documents, analysis of bids, and negotiation with contractors and suppliers.
- Administer contracts, including managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess work completed, and prepare valuations for interim payments.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate commercial risks associated with projects.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports and forecasts for project stakeholders.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost control, and financial management principles.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Office Suite, estimating software).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional membership with a recognized body (e.g., RICS, CIQS).
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure or commercial projects.
- Knowledge of Canadian construction standards and practices.
- Ability to speak French or other languages will be considered an asset.
