Job Description
Are you passionate about radio and podcasting? Do you dream of working behind the scenes on live broadcasts and helping shape compelling audio content? Bell Media is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Radio & Podcasting Production Intern to join our vibrant team in Halifax. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of broadcast media. You’ll work alongside seasoned professionals, learning all facets of live radio production and the growing field of podcast creation. We welcome candidates with no prior experience who possess a strong desire to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist producers with live on-air radio shows, including segment timing, call screening, and sound effect cues.
- Support the creation and editing of podcast episodes, including audio cleanup, mastering, and segment arrangement.
- Conduct research for show topics, guest interviews, and segment ideas for both radio and podcasts.
- Help manage social media content related to live shows and podcast releases.
- Prepare studio equipment and ensure all technical aspects are ready for broadcast.
- Log music and commercial spots accurately.
- Learn and utilize audio editing software for various production tasks.
- Provide general administrative support to the production team.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for radio, audio storytelling, and podcasting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, live production environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Eagerness and ability to learn new software and production techniques quickly.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant program (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, Media Production).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content creation.
- Basic understanding of audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity) is a plus, but not required.
- Previous experience with personal audio projects or student radio is an asset.
