Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Remote Building Permit Processor to join our team, working specifically on projects supporting local government initiatives. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the UK. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, processing, and managing building permit applications in accordance with local authority regulations and national standards. You will ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the permit lifecycle, playing a crucial part in community development and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process building permit applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with applicants, contractors, and local government officials to resolve discrepancies and provide guidance on permitting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and databases of all permit activities, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations related to permit processing metrics and compliance.
- Stay updated on changes to building codes, zoning ordinances, and other relevant local government regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to streamline permit processing workflows and improve service delivery.
- Manage inquiries and provide excellent customer service regarding permit status and requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) in administrative support, data entry, or a related field, preferably within a regulatory or government context.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing documents and data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and database management systems.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity and meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with permit management software or geographic information systems (GIS).
