Job Description
Join Optum as a Remote Patient Appointment Scheduler and become a vital part of our healthcare call center team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and scheduling patient appointments, ensuring efficient clinic flow, and providing exceptional customer service. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home while contributing to a healthier community. We are looking for empathetic and organized individuals with excellent communication skills to help our patients navigate their healthcare journey seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally from patients seeking to schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to accurately book and manage appointments across multiple specialties.
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information as needed during the scheduling process.
- Provide patients with clear instructions regarding their appointments, including preparation, location, and required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff to coordinate scheduling and address any potential conflicts or special requests.
- Document all patient interactions and scheduling activities thoroughly and accurately.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with company policies and healthcare scheduling best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a call center, customer service, or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and navigating multiple applications simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or similar.
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
