Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Retail Security Guard to join our team in Portsmouth. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our customers, colleagues, and store assets. You will play a key part in preventing loss, deterring crime, and maintaining a secure shopping environment. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in security.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol store premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and alarm systems.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Apprehend or detain shoplifters and other criminals, following company policy and legal guidelines.
- Report any security incidents, suspicious activities, or safety hazards.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers and colleagues when needed.
- Conduct regular checks for fire and safety risks.
- Maintain a professional and visible presence to deter potential thieves.

- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and surveillance monitoring.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to company security procedures and legal protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license (training can be provided for suitable candidates).
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- First Aid certification.
