Job Description
Are you ready to kickstart a rewarding career in heavy machinery? AIM Recycling is looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team in Edmundston as a Scrap Metal Crane Operator Trainee. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive, hands-on training to equip you with all the skills needed to safely and efficiently operate overhead and mobile cranes in our scrap metal yard. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all training programs and learn the safe operation of various types of scrap metal cranes.
- Under supervision, sort, stack, and load various types of scrap metal using overhead and mobile cranes.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation checks on equipment, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Assist with general yard duties and housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operational status and safety concerns.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges within the yard.
Required Skills
- No prior crane operating experience required; full training provided.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks as needed in a demanding industrial environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills are an asset.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the job site.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a labor, warehouse, or outdoor industrial setting.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and equipment.
- First Aid / CPR certification (can be obtained during employment).
