Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join our precision engineering team on the Gold Coast. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to the fabrication of high-quality components and structures for diverse industrial projects. You will be responsible for interpreting complex blueprints, accurately cutting, shaping, and forming metal sheets, and ensuring all work meets our stringent quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong eye for detail, a commitment to precision, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is an on-site role, working from our state-of-the-art facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Measure, mark, and cut sheet metal using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machinery (e.g., shears, press brakes, roll formers).
- Shape and form metal sheets and plates according to precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform various welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG) to join metal components.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Operate and maintain sheet metal fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimize fabrication processes and resolve technical issues.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Extensive experience in sheet metal fabrication techniques (cutting, bending, forming, shaping).
- Skilled in operating various sheet metal machinery and hand tools.
- Demonstrated ability in TIG and MIG welding.
- Strong understanding of metal properties and characteristics.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
- Commitment to workplace safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized trade qualification in Sheet Metal Fabrication or equivalent.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for sheet metal design and nesting.
- Familiarity with advanced precision measuring tools and techniques.
- Current forklift license.
