Job Description
Global Marine Solutions Ltd. is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Ship Master / Captain to command our commercial vessels. This pivotal role involves full responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the ship, its crew, cargo, and passengers (if applicable), in strict adherence to international maritime regulations, company policies, and best industry practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, navigational expertise, and a proactive approach to risk management. Key Responsibilities
- Exercise overall command and responsibility for the vessel, crew, cargo, and environment.
- Ensure strict compliance with all international, national, and company maritime regulations and safety standards (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM Code).
- Lead, manage, and train the crew, fostering a culture of safety, discipline, and professional development.
- Oversee all navigation, watchkeeping, and maneuvering operations, ensuring safe passage and cargo delivery.
- Manage vessel maintenance, surveys, and inspections to maintain seaworthiness and operational readiness.
- Implement and enforce emergency procedures, including fire fighting, damage control, and abandon ship drills.
- Maintain accurate vessel records, logs, and documentation as required by law and company policy.
- Communicate effectively with shore-based management, port authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the vessel's budget, provisions, and supplies efficiently.
- Ensure the security of the vessel, crew, and cargo.
Required Skills
- Valid Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (STCW II/2 Unlimited).
- Extensive experience as Master or Chief Officer on commercial vessels of similar type and tonnage.
- Up-to-date STCW endorsements and certifications (e.g., GMDSS, Medical First Aid, Advanced Fire Fighting, PSCRB, Crowd Management, Security Duties).
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) to IMO standard.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Thorough knowledge of international maritime law and regulations.
- Strong navigational and ship handling capabilities.
- Excellent risk assessment and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific vessel types relevant to our fleet (e.g., container, tanker, bulk carrier, offshore support).
- Additional specialized training or certifications (e.g., DP endorsement, Ice Navigation).
- A Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or a related field.
- Proven track record in successful port state control inspections.
- Familiarity with digital navigation systems and fleet management software.
