Job Description
Are you passionate about sound and eager to kickstart your career in live event and studio production? Global is offering an exciting Sound Engineering Internship in Royal Leamington Spa. This hands-on placement is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, providing comprehensive training across various facets of sound engineering. You will gain invaluable practical experience in a dynamic environment, supporting both live broadcasts/events and studio recording sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior sound engineers with setup, operation, and teardown of audio equipment for live events and studio recordings.
- Learn to calibrate and maintain professional audio consoles, microphones, and other related gear.
- Support sound checks and rehearsals, ensuring optimal audio quality.
- Shadow engineers during live broadcasts, podcasts, and music recording sessions.
- Assist with cable management, equipment inventory, and general studio upkeep.
- Contribute to post-production tasks, including basic editing and mixing under supervision.
- Troubleshoot minor audio issues during events or sessions.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and company protocols.
Required Skills
- A strong passion for sound engineering, music, and live events.
- Basic understanding of audio principles (e.g., signal flow, microphone types, acoustics) a plus, but not essential.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Physical ability to lift and move audio equipment as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a relevant college or university program (e.g., Music Technology, Sound Production, Audio Engineering).
- Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live.
- Previous experience with a musical instrument or live sound setup (e.g., for a band, school play, or local event).
