Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to contribute to the communication and feeding development of children with complex needs. As a vital member of our team, you will work with a diverse caseload, providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and intervention services. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties in children.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams including doctors, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
  • Provide advice, support, and training to families and caregivers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with professional and hospital standards.
  • Participate in ward rounds, team meetings, and case conferences.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Required Skills

  • Hold a degree in Speech and Language Pathology recognized for professional registration in the UK (e.g., HCPC eligible).
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist, preferably within a paediatric setting.
  • Excellent assessment, diagnostic, and intervention skills for a range of paediatric communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and their families.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based practice.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English to a professional standard.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex paediatric caseloads, including neurological conditions, developmental delays, and feeding difficulties.
  • Post-graduate training or certifications in specialized areas of paediatric speech and language therapy.
  • Familiarity with NHS policies and procedures.
  • Experience supervising junior staff or students.
