Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team in Kensington. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages, developing individualized therapy plans, and collaborating with families and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
- Develop and implement evidence-based individualized therapy programs for a diverse caseload.
- Provide therapy to patients in one-on-one and group settings.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate and counsel patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies and management techniques.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including doctors, audiologists, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
- Participate in continuing professional development and team meetings.
- Adhere to all regulatory and ethical guidelines governing speech and language pathology practice in the UK.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology or equivalent.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or eligibility for registration.
- Demonstrated experience in assessing and treating a variety of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Excellent clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
- Proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within the UK healthcare system.
- Specialist experience in areas such as dysphagia, voice disorders, or pediatric communication difficulties.
- Experience with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
