Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate State/Provincial Foster Care Assistant to join our team in an office-based role. This vital position provides administrative and logistical support to our foster care social workers and directly assists foster families, ensuring the smooth operation of our programs. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a deep commitment to our mission. This is an on-site position located at our main office in Bowie, Maryland.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to foster care social workers, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and preparing case-related documentation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, both electronic and physical, ensuring compliance with state regulations and organizational policies.
- Act as a primary point of contact for foster families, answering inquiries, providing information, and directing them to appropriate resources.
- Assist with the coordination of foster family support services, such as training sessions, support groups, and events.
- Process and track various forms, applications, and reports related to foster care placements and services.
- Facilitate communication between social workers, foster families, legal representatives, and other agencies.
- Order and maintain office supplies, ensuring the efficient operation of the foster care department.
- Assist with data entry and management for various program databases.
- Prepare materials for meetings, presentations, and outreach events.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative or office support role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding for individuals in challenging circumstances.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience working in a social services, non-profit, or healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with foster care systems and regulations in Maryland.
- Experience with client relationship management (CRM) software.
