Job Description
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a dedicated and skilled Street Sign Installer to join our Infrastructure Services team. This critical role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of all street signage within the city and surrounding areas, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards and traffic regulations. You will be instrumental in maintaining clear and effective directional, regulatory, and informational signage for our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and replace street signs, including traffic, directional, street name, and informational signs.
- Ensure all sign installations comply with Australian Standards, local government regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and vehicles such as light trucks with lifting capabilities.
- Conduct regular inspections of existing signage for damage, wear, or non-compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of sign inventory, installation dates, and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.
- Work independently or as part of a small team, often in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License (Class C minimum, HR desirable).
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and OH&S procedures.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and working at heights.
- Basic understanding of traffic management principles (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to read and interpret plans and work orders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in civil construction, landscaping, general maintenance, or a similar field.
- Traffic Management Accreditation (Basic Worksite Traffic Management or higher).
- Forklift license or EWP (Elevated Work Platform) ticket.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Local knowledge of Kalgoorlie-Boulder road network.
