Job Description
As an Entry-Level Train Station Platform Attendant, you will be the face of NJ Transit, providing essential support and customer service at our bustling train platforms. This is a foundational role where you’ll receive comprehensive training to ensure the safety and smooth flow of our passengers. No prior experience is required; we are looking for reliable individuals with a strong commitment to public service and safety. You will assist passengers, monitor platform activity, and communicate important service information, playing a crucial role in the daily operations of our public rail system.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of passengers on train platforms, guiding them to maintain safe distances from the track.
- Provide clear and accurate information to passengers regarding train schedules, delays, and platform changes.
- Assist passengers with disabilities or special needs, ensuring accessible and comfortable travel.
- Monitor platform conditions and report any issues, such as hazards, spills, or malfunctioning equipment.
- Communicate effectively with train operators, station managers, and emergency services when necessary.
- Respond to passenger inquiries and resolve minor issues professionally and courteously.
- Assist with crowd control during peak hours or special events.
- Be knowledgeable about emergency procedures and assist in their execution.
Required Skills

- No prior experience required; full training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
- Knowledge of local public transportation systems.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
- First aid or CPR certification.
