Job Description

Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to start a hands-on career in environmental conservation? The National Trust is seeking a motivated Trainee Forestry Technician to join our team in the Gloucester area, working within breathtaking National Parks and managed landscapes. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with little to no prior experience, offering comprehensive training and a clear path for professional development. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced forestry technicians in woodland management tasks, including tree planting, pruning, felling, and pest/disease control.
  • Participate in habitat restoration projects, such as clearing invasive species and creating new wildlife habitats.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment under supervision, including chainsaws, brush cutters, and other forestry machinery (full training provided).
  • Conduct basic surveys and record data on tree health, biodiversity, and site conditions.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of public access routes, trails, and visitor facilities within designated areas.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, volunteers, and local communities.
