Job Description

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as an Unemployment Office Advisor. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear and accurate information to claimants regarding unemployment insurance laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist claimants with completing unemployment benefit applications and understanding eligibility requirements.
  • Conduct interviews to gather necessary information and clarify claimant circumstances.
  • Explain claim status, payment information, and appeal processes.
  • Refer claimants to appropriate job search assistance programs, workforce development resources, and other support services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all claimant information and adhere to strict data privacy regulations.
  • Document all interactions and update claimant records accurately in the designated system.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with program changes and best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service delivery and a positive claimant experience.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an empathetic and patient approach
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, public-facing environment
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration, or related field
