Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Unmanned Aerial Systems (Drone) Intern to join our Surveying team in Midtown Atlanta. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge drone technology in a professional engineering and surveying environment. The successful candidate will learn the fundamentals of drone operation, data acquisition, processing, and application in various surveying projects, working alongside experienced professionals. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and execution of UAS flights for surveying and mapping projects.
- Learn and apply safe drone operating procedures and best practices in accordance with FAA regulations.
- Support data collection efforts, including pre-flight checks, mission planning, and post-flight data verification.
- Participate in the processing of collected aerial data using specialized software.
- Assist with quality control and assurance processes for UAS-derived deliverables.
- Contribute to the documentation of project workflows and methodologies.
- Collaborate with surveying and engineering teams to understand project requirements and deliver accurate data.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, Aviation, or a related field.
- Strong interest in drone technology, surveying, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn new software.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of surveying principles or GIS concepts.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) is a plus but not required.
- Prior exposure to drone technology or remote sensing is beneficial but not mandatory.
